Luitgard Wundheiler

Luitgard Wundheiler ist eine Vertreterin der Lwow-Warschau-Schule.

Sie ist eine Wegbereiterin der Theorie der automatischen Übersetzung. Sie suchte gemeinsam mit Aleksander Wunderheiler nach einer invarianten Sprachsyntax, um die Sprache so zu normalisieren, dass sie allein mit einem Wörterbuch übersetzt werden kann.

Sie beschrieben ihren Ansatz wie folgt:

"If the verb of a sentence has the index n, the complements of the verb will have the indices n1, n2, n3,…, 1, 2, 3, … being role indices. The assignment of indices to roles is, of course, arbitrary, and must be codified in a dictionary.

"John11 gave1 a book13 to Mary12."
"Mary12 was given1 a book13 by John11."

Complements that denote the same participant with the same role in synonymous sentences are assigned the same role index." [Wundheiler/Wundheiler: Some logical concepts for syntax, 199].
